Eastern Red Cedar - Juniperus virginiana

Eastern Red Cedar，其实不是 cedar，所以也写作 Eastern Redcedar，学名是 Juniperus virginiana，还有其他各种俗名，比如 red cedar、redcedar。它其实是 juniper，所以又有一些俗名，比如 Virginian juniper、eastern juniper、red juniper 等。按照字面意思翻译成中文，可以叫做“东部红杉”、“东部红雪松”、“东部红柏”、“东部桧柏”、“红桧柏”、“弗吉尼亚桧柏”等。

• scape off a little bark at the side for old stems
• rooting medium: coarse substrate at the bottom, normal substrate, vermiculite on the top
• use chopstick to insert cutting into the soil
• cutting: 2 year old growth, 3 year max; heel cutting quite reliable
• no rooting hormone
• remove fruits on the cuttings
• early spring or late summer is the best time to take cuttings, but any time will be fine

2022 年 12 月 28 日星期三：今天在某邻居家剪了几根枝条，拿回家一看针叶刺手，是 common juniper，学名 Juniperus communis，刺柏，一种小乔木或灌木。它是一种常绿针叶树，在所有木本植物中地理分布范围最大，在整个凉爽的北半球呈环极分布。后来还到处剪了更多剪枝。
